Our safety check form is broken in to four sections, Front Suspension, Steering & Driveline, Rear Suspensions and Brakes. Within these sections, the below components are thoroughly checked;

  1. Front Suspension: Our experienced technicians thoroughly inspect critical front suspension components to identify any potential issues. This includes assessing the condition of your shock absorbers, struts, springs, and other vital elements that contribute to your vehicle's stability and ride comfort.
  2. Steering & Driveline: We pay close attention to your vehicle's steering and driveline components. Our examination encompasses steering linkage, joints, and the driveline itself to detect any wear or abnormalities that could affect your steering precision and overall control.

Under Vehicle Component Inspection

Under Vehicle Component Inspection

During our Under Vehicle Component Inspection, our skilled technicians will conduct a thorough examination of each suspension component beneath your vehicle. They will meticulously assess for signs of wear and tear, as well as any potential abnormalities. In particular, suspension bushes and shock absorbers are components we frequently scrutinize, as these areas commonly exhibit wear and tear. Your safety and vehicle's performance are our top priorities.

Brake and Wheel Inspection

After checking the under body suspension components, our Fulcrum technicians will check all your wheels and brakes. This ensures that your tyre treads have no excessive or uneven wear and that your brakes are in safe and working condition.

The brake inspection consists of a visual examination of the brakes, including the inspection of the brake pads and determining the condition of the disks. Further inspection will involve a test drive being undertaken by our experienced technicians. This allows us to test your handbrake and determine the conditions of your brakes. We will also examine the brake cylinder to ensure there is no leakage which could impact the effectiveness of your braking system.

With the request of the customer, a more in depth inspection will be performed. This inspection involves having the vehicle on the hoist with all 4 wheels removed. The condition of the drum, shoes, wheel cylinder and axle seals will then be examined.

Hydraulic brake pressures at all 4 wheels and the rate of deceleration is reviewed to ensure it is of the legal limit. At Fulcrum Suspensions, we ensure that your vehicle is inspected to extremely high standards from our team.

When do I need to have my suspension inspected?

Knowing when to have your suspension inspected is essential for vehicle safety and performance. As a general guideline, it's recommended to schedule a suspension inspection at least once a year or every 19,000 to 24,000 kilometers. However, you may need more frequent inspections if you regularly drive on rough or uneven roads, or if you notice any signs of suspension issues, such as a bumpy ride, unusual noises, or handling problems. Consult your vehicle's manual for manufacturer-specific recommendations and consider the advice of a qualified mechanic to determine the best inspection schedule based on your driving conditions and vehicle type.

What does a suspension check include?

A suspension check is a thorough inspection of a vehicle's suspension system to ensure its optimal performance and safety. This examination typically encompasses various key components, such as the shock absorbers, struts, springs, control arms, and bushings. During a suspension check, a qualified technician will assess these elements for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. They will also inspect the suspension mounting points and joints for any looseness or excessive play. Furthermore, the alignment of the wheels and tires will be scrutinized, as misalignment can have a significant impact on the suspension's functionality. Overall, a comprehensive suspension check aims to identify and address any issues that may compromise the vehicle's handling, ride comfort, and road safety, ensuring a smooth and secure driving experience.

How often do you need to inspect suspension?

The frequency of suspension inspections depends on several factors, including your driving habits, the condition of the road you frequently travel on, and the manufacturer's recommendations for your specific vehicle. As a general guideline, it is advisable to have your suspension system inspected annually or every 19,000 to 24,000 kilometers. However, if you frequently encounter rough or potholed roads, or if you notice any unusual noises, vibrations, or handling issues, it's crucial to have your suspension checked sooner to prevent potential safety hazards and costly repairs. Regular inspections can help ensure that your vehicle's suspension remains in optimal condition, providing a comfortable and safe driving experience. Consulting your vehicle's manual and a professional mechanic can provide more precise recommendations based on your specific circumstances.

Should I get my suspension checked?

Absolutely, it is advisable to have your suspension checked regularly. Suspension plays a vital role in your vehicle's safety and comfort. If you notice any unusual signs, such as excessive bouncing, swaying, or unusual noises when driving over bumps, it's especially important to get your suspension checked promptly. Routine suspension inspections can help identify and address issues before they become more significant problems, ensuring your vehicle handles well and provides a smooth and safe ride. Consulting with a qualified mechanic is a wise choice to assess the condition of your suspension and determine if any maintenance or repairs are necessary for optimal road safety.

How do I know if my suspension needs replacing?

You can determine if your suspension needs replacing by paying attention to certain signs. Uneven tire wear, excessive bouncing, swerving or drifting, unusual noises, fluid leaks, visible damage to components, and a rough ride are all indicators that your suspension may require attention. If you notice any of these symptoms, it's essential to have your suspension inspected by a qualified mechanic to ensure your vehicle's safety and performance on the road.

How do I know if my suspension is worn out?

Identifying worn-out suspension is crucial for vehicle safety. Signs of wear include uneven tire wear, excessive bouncing, swaying or drifting while driving, unusual noises like clunking or squeaking, visible fluid leaks, and damaged components. If you observe any of these signs, it's essential to have your suspension assessed by a qualified mechanic to ensure your vehicle's roadworthiness.

How often does suspension need replacing?

The frequency of suspension replacement varies depending on factors like driving habits and road conditions. As a general guideline, it's recommended to consider suspension replacement every 80,000 to 160,000 kilometers. However, if you encounter rough roads or notice signs of wear such as excessive bouncing, uneven tire wear, or strange noises, it's advisable to have your suspension checked earlier. Regular inspections by a qualified mechanic can help determine the appropriate timing for suspension replacement, ensuring your vehicle's safety and performance.

How do I check if my suspension is bad?

You can assess the condition of your suspension by conducting a few simple checks. First, look for signs of uneven tire wear, which can indicate suspension problems. Next, take note of how your vehicle handles; excessive bouncing, swaying, or drifting can be signs of a compromised suspension. Listen for any unusual noises, such as clunking or squeaking, while driving over bumps or making turns. Additionally, inspect your suspension components for visible damage, rust, or fluid leaks. If you notice any of these issues, it's advisable to have your suspension inspected by a qualified mechanic to determine if it requires maintenance or replacement.

Should I get my suspension checked?

Indeed, it is advisable to have your suspension system checked periodically. Your vehicle's suspension plays a critical role in ensuring both safety and ride comfort. If you detect any unusual signs, such as excessive bouncing, swaying, or unusual noises when driving over bumps, it's especially important to have your suspension checked promptly. Regular suspension inspections can help identify and address issues before they become more significant problems, ensuring your vehicle handles well and provides a smooth and safe ride. Consulting with a qualified mechanic is a wise choice to assess the condition of your suspension and determine if any maintenance or repairs are necessary for optimal road safety.
