About Fulcrum

main_office.jpgFulcrum Suspensions Pty Ltd is a Brisbane-based automotive aftermarket company specialising in suspension and steering components. Founded in 1976 by now Managing Director Graham Scudamore-Smith, Fulcrum has grown from its humble beginnings as a wheel alignment workshop in Moorooka, to now offer a diverse range of suspension solutions for almost any vehicle.

Owner Graham Scudamore Smith’s vision was to create a business that would specialise exclusively in steering and suspension systems. With an involvement in sedan car racing and rallying in the 1970’s, Graham became aware of the application of polyurethane and the improvements it gained in handling, performance and durability and looked to see how a polyurethane product could be produced efficiently for normal automotive use. Graham enlisted the aid of chemists, mechanical and production engineers, and utilised his own working knowledge of suspensions to achieve a breakthrough in suspension bush technology that since 1983 has been recognised and marketed as SuperPro polyurethane bushings.

Fulcrum has grown to become a broad-based suspensions company, providing specialist retail services to customers with steering and suspension problems, operating a significant steering and suspension wholesale parts business and manufacturing SuperPro polyurethane suspension components from its Moorooka facility. Being a solutions oriented company means Fulcrum looks to improve the ride quality and handling of its customers by providing a combination of quality brands and expert technical knowledge. Fulcrum’s premium quality suspension products include TEIN high performance suspension, Bilstein, Koni, Boge, EFS, Monroe, KYB, King Springs, Polyair Springs, RAW and its own locally manufactured SuperPro polyurethane bushings. The SuperPro process

process_tooling.jpgTooling

Patterns are manufactured into aluminium from precise drawings which are generated using AutoCAD. These patterns are machined to a very high tolerance to ensure continuity in our parts.

process_mould.jpgMould making

Polyurethane moulds are then produced from the patterns using the same high quality product we use to manufacture our parts. This process allows for both high volume products as well as specialised one-offs, at an affordable price.

process_pouring.jpgPouring

Experienced gun pourers fill the moulds as they are presented through the conveyor ovens, which hold processing temperatures to exact intolerances.

process_demoulding.jpgDemoulding

Parts are removed from moulds and inspected to ensure correct quality is maintained at all times. Moulds are then prepared and returned through the conveyor oven to the guns to be refilled.

process_sorting.jpgSorting

Items are hand sorted into their various part numbers and any linear flashing is removed at this point.

process_lathing.jpgLathing

To ensure critical dimensions are met, items are machined to close tolerances.

Kitting

Final components are quality inspected and assembled into packaged kits for distribution to our numerous SuperPro customers across the globe.top-of-page.jpg
